New Adult Fiction is a relatively new genre of fiction (c. 2009) that has been met with some criticism. It is essentially fiction meant for a slightly older audience than that of Young Adult Fiction. In it, protagonists are usually older teenagers (17 to 19) and college-aged young adults.
Additionally, because the books are intended for an older audience, explicit content becomes acceptable. Such matter includes vulgar language, some sexual content, and slightly graphic violence.
Because I don't dedicate full books to romance or to brutal warfare - although such scenes do appear - graphic depictions of sexual acts or overly descriptive violence do not occur. I am always cognizant of my readers and strive to provide them with just enough detail to build a rapport with characters; I am never intentionally vulgar.
